2008 RULES

The "SOLENT COASTS SPONSORED CYCLING CHALLENGE" is a self-navigating challenge" open to all types of rider whether beginner, expert, cycling team, individual, or family group.

Riders under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult and supply written permission to participate by a parent or guardian.

To complete the "Challenge", you must both complete the 66 mile circuit in one day and raise a minimum of £125 in sponsorship for the supported charities.

Entry is by £11.50 initial voluntary donation but you are expected to raise additional sponsorship to support the charities.

Upon receipt of your initial donation and application form, you will receive a Detailed Route Instruction Booklet plus Official Sponsor Form.

SUBSIDISED FERRY VOUCHERS will be issued in advance to entrants on payment of the specified amount. The vouchers must be presented to the ferry operator on boarding. For the 2008 event, the total cost of the vouchers will be £8.50 per rider.

Successful challengers will receive a signed "Completion Certificate" and their photo will appear in the Successful Challengers section of this website.

The main start / finish point will be Wightlink's Lymington ferry terminal car park, but you may use any other start / finish on the route if you wish.

The start time is 8.00 am on Saturday 21 June 2008.

Resulting monies raised will be divided between the named charities.

Although much of the ride is on a fairly good surface there are off-road sections suitable for mountain bike riders only. There will be 'on-road' alternatives for these sections suitable for road bikes.

You are strongly urged to wear a safety helmet.
